Master Jicang Cairang: The Soul of Regong Thangka Art

"Preserving the Sacred Lineage, One Brushstroke at a Time."

Master Jicang Cairang - Thangka Artist of Tanfog

The Guardian of Himalayan Heritage

Born in November 1997 in the cradle of Tibetan art—Tongren, Qinghai (historically known as Regong)—Master Jicang Cairang has dedicated his life to the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment through sacred art. His journey began in 2010, when he was accepted as a formal disciple of the legendary Master Li Bai, a First-class Folk Art Master in Qinghai.

Under six years of rigorous monastic-style training (2010–2016), Jicang mastered the intricate Buddhist iconometry and the secret alchemical techniques of natural mineral pigment application. His work is more than art; it is a fusion of deep Buddhist theory and extraordinary manual precision.

A Legacy of Recognition

  • 2016: Commissioned to paint the "Four Heavenly Kings" and 15 sacred scrolls for the Xibusha Monastery, marking his entry into the elite circle of monastic artists.
  • 2019: Officially awarded the prestigious title of "Folk Craftsman of Tongren" by the Expert Review Committee.
  • 2023: His masterpiece "Yellow Jambhala" was selected as an outstanding work at the Qinghai Intangible Cultural Heritage Thangka Art Exhibition.
  • 2024: Inducted as a distinguished member of the Qinghai Thangka Art Association.
  • 2025: Certified with the Specialized Vocational Competency Certificate in traditional painting techniques by the Qinghai Provincial Vocational Guidance Center.

Sacred Materials, Timeless Mastery

Every Thangka created by Master Jicang Cairang adheres to the Menri and Karma Gadri lineages. We use exclusively natural mineral pigments—crushed turquoise, lapis lazuli, cinnabar, and 24K genuine gold—to ensure that the spiritual energy and vibrant colors of the scroll endure for centuries.

Master Jicang's style is renowned for its delicate line work, rich color transitions, and profound emotional depth. His ability to capture the "divine gaze" of deities has earned high acclaim from both monastic scholars and international art collectors.

Our Commitment to Authenticity

At Tanfog, we believe that sacred art requires absolute integrity. Every Thangka purchased from our collection is accompanied by an Originality Certificate personally signed and sealed by Master Jicang Cairang, documenting its creation process and spiritual significance.
